Horseradish is a vigorous perennial that forms very long roots great for making spicy condiments. If you think you liked horseradish from the store, you will love the taste of it home grown! It’s very easy to grow. It does like to spread out so be conscious of this when choosing a planting home. It does best in full sun, or part sun, and in well draining soil. It can also be a great plant to plant near the base of fruit trees to deter rodents.
The root cuttings should be planted in cultivated soil free from competition. Bury the root on it’s side about 1 inch deep. Keep well watered and weeded until established.
