Our nursery aims to showcase the possibilities and solutions tree crops could create in cold climate landscapes. We specialize in growing food bearing trees and plants to zone 4 and colder. It is our greatest belief that food sovereignty is possible for anyone, even in the far north. All of our trees have been grown, grafted and propagated by us and are grown with a deep reverence for nature. We are proud of the healthy, loved, naturally grown trees that we have to offer. We’re located on a 16 acre homestead and research food forest in Calvin, Ontario.
We believe that the fruit/nut trees and bushes we grow can solve many of the challenges that our world faces today through the simple act of planting and nurturing. The need for local, resilient, and cold hardy sources of food has never been higher. The majority of our trees and plants are hardy to -40 C, and some are even colder!
Growers Philosophy
We grow our trees in living soil without the use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. This is quite rare in the nursery industry. Our nursery is diverse, teeming with pollinators, and is rooted in love. We grow our trees in rich, friable soil which we add loads of organic matter to. Wood chips, manure, compost, leaves, biochar and other biomass is continuously fed to our soil.
Incredible amounts of healthy delicious foods are on the horizon…Plant our trees for food, for wildlife, for sustainability, and for generations to come!
Shipping
Our trees, perennials, and berry bushes are shipped bareroot. A large amount of trees can be shipped with minimal packaging and the roots are much healthier and adapt to their new home much better than trees grown in pots.
They are shipped in the dormant season from April to mid May. This also eases the trees from transplant shock, and they take off running once spring is in full swing! Each and every tree is carefully packaged and wrapped to ensure adequate moisture and a safe journey to it’s new home.
You can choose different dates for preferred delivery when you complete the order process. However, these dates are only tentative as we have to ship according to Nature! We thank you for your patience.
